Description
Flaky croissants turned into spooky bats with chocolate-filled wings for a Halloween pastry twist.
Ingredients
- Croissant dough (store-bought or homemade)
- Dark chocolate spread (Nutella or melted chocolate)
- Chocolate chips (for bat ears)
- Egg wash (for shine)
- Powdered sugar (optional dusting)
- Cocoa powder (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spread chocolate inside each croissant dough triangle before rolling.
- Shape some croissants normally, and for “bats,” flatten dough slightly and stretch side edges for wings.
- Place chocolate chips at the top center for little ears.
- Brush with egg wash for a golden crisp.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and flaky, with chocolate peeking out.
- Serve warm with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or cocoa for effect.
Notes
- Ensure the croissant dough is cold for easier handling.
- Experiment with different types of chocolate for varied flavors.
- These can be made ahead and baked just before serving for freshness.
