Description

Delicious Hawaiian roast beef sliders with melted provolone cheese and a flavorful au jus.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1 pound deli-sliced roast beef
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon finely diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  2. Slice the sweet rolls horizontally, keeping them connected as a slab. Place the bottom halves into your prepared dish.
  3. Layer the roast beef evenly over the rolls. This doesn’t have to be fancy—just make sure every bite gets a bit of that tender beef. Then, add the provolone cheese slices over the beef. It will melt beautifully in the oven and hold everything together.
  4. Carefully place the top halves of the rolls over the cheese layer. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, diced onion, and garlic powder. This is your flavor bomb. Use a pastry brush or spoon to generously coat the tops of the rolls with this buttery mixture.
  5. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and slightly crisp.
  6. While the sliders bake, prepare the au jus. In a small saucepan, whisk together the au jus gravy mix with 2 cups of water. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly and becomes a rich dipping sauce.
  7. Once the sliders are out of the oven, slice them apart and serve with warm au jus on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the butter mixture.
  • These sliders can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
