Description

Deliciously gooey chocolate chip cookie bars that are easy to make and perfect for sharing!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until the batter is smooth.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Form the Dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  5. Bake: Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with few crumbs.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, cut into squares or triangles to serve.

Notes

  • Consistency: For extra gooey bars, reduce baking time slightly.
  • Flavor Variations: Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking for a salty-sweet contrast.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container to keep them soft and chewy for up to a week.
  • Add-Ins: Consider adding coconut flakes or dried fruit for extra texture and flavor.
