Deliciously gooey chocolate chip cookie bars that are easy to make and perfect for sharing!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until the batter is smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Form the Dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Bake: Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with few crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, cut into squares or triangles to serve.
Notes
- Consistency: For extra gooey bars, reduce baking time slightly.
- Flavor Variations: Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking for a salty-sweet contrast.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container to keep them soft and chewy for up to a week.
- Add-Ins: Consider adding coconut flakes or dried fruit for extra texture and flavor.
