Warm spiced cider served with floating puff pastry skulls for a spooky Halloween drink.
Ingredients
- Apple cider
- Puff pastry sheets
- Whole cloves (for eyes)
- Cinnamon sticks
- Brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
- Nutmeg
- Allspice
- Star anise (optional)
- Egg wash (for pastry)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into skull shapes using a cookie cutter (or freehand). Carve eye/nose details with a knife.
- Brush lightly with egg wash and bake 10–12 minutes until golden and puffed. Insert cloves as eyes.
- In a pot, simmer apple cider with cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, allspice, and star anise for 15 minutes.
- Sweeten with brown sugar if desired.
- Pour hot cider into mugs or a cauldron-style pot.
- Float baked puff pastry skulls on top before serving.
