Description

A delicious and hearty lasagna recipe that layers rich meat sauce, cheese, and pasta.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles (regular or no-boil)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or turkey
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (or ricotta)
  • 2 cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground meat over medium heat; drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce until heated through.
  3. Layer a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish, then add noodles, dollops of cottage cheese, and shredded mozzarella.
  4. Repeat layering until ingredients are used up, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute meat with vegetables like zucchini or mushrooms.
  • Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
