- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- ½ cup marinara sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- Fresh basil leaves
- 2 slices provolone (optional for extra melt)
- Italian seasoning or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place two slices butter-side down.
- Layer with mozzarella, a spoon of marinara, basil leaves, and provolone if using.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Grill until golden brown and cheese begins to melt, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- For an extra cheesy top, sprinkle mozzarella on the outer crust and broil 1–2 minutes.
- Slice and serve hot with extra marinara for dipping.
