Description

This delicious lasagna combines layers of noodles, rich meat sauce, and creamy cheeses, making it a perfect comfort food for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 sheets Lasagna Noodles (no-boil noodles can be used but may require more sauce)
  • 1 pound Ground Beef (can swap with sautéed vegetables or an extra jar of marinara for a vegetarian option)
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce (homemade or jarred)
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese (cottage cheese works well too if it’s well-drained)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning (feel free to adjust with your favorite dried herbs)
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese (fresh or shredded mozzarella for the best melt)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (optional but elevates the dish)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the lasagna noodles. Cook until al dente, around 8-10 minutes. Drain and lay flat on parchment paper.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  5. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, one-third of the mozzarella, and more meat sauce. Repeat this layering.
  6. Finish with noodles and remaining meat sauce. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese and a dusting of Parmesan.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • No-boil noodles may require additional sauce for optimal texture.
  • Adding sautéed vegetables is a great vegetarian option.
  • Letting the lasagna rest helps it set for easier slicing.
