Description

Delicious cinnamon honey butter biscuits with a creamy glaze, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 6 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup drained canned yams, mashed
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1/8 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (yes, that is the correct temperature.)
  2. To a 9×9-inch baking dish add 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl add 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, 1 ½ cups whole milk, 6 Tablespoons light brown sugar, 1 Tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon nutmeg. Mix until combined.
  4. Add 1 cup drained canned yams, mashed. Mix until just combined.
  5. Transfer the dough to the baking dish. Press the batter evenly in the baking dish.
  6. Cut the dough into 9 squares.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes (on the middle oven rack) and rotate the dish once during baking (about halfway through.)
  8. While the biscuits are baking, prepare the glaze. In a bowl add 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter, 1/8 cup honey and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix until combined.
  9. Pour or brush the cinnamon honey butter glaze on top.
  10. Then serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use the spoon and level method for measuring flour to avoid packing.
  • Ensure yams are drained well before mashing.
