Description

This delicious Cajun salmon is topped with a creamy avocado lime sauce for a refreshing twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 fillets salmon
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon: If you’re using frozen salmon, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight or under cold running water. Pat the fillets dry with a paper towel.
  2. Season the salmon: In a small bowl, mix together Cajun seasoning with olive oil. Rub this mixture generously over both sides of the salmon fillets.
  3. Cook the salmon: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the salmon fillets, skin side down if applicable. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Remove from heat and let it rest.
  4. Prepare the avocado lime sauce: While the salmon is cooking, cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Add the juice of lime, a pinch of salt, and mash until creamy but still chunky. Stir in some chopped cilantro for added flavor.
  5. Plate the dish: Place the salmon on a serving plate and generously top it with the avocado lime sauce. Garnish with additional cilantro and lime wedges if desired.

Notes

  • For added spice, adjust the cayenne pepper to your liking.
  • This dish pairs well with rice or a fresh garden salad.
