- Lasagna noodles (12 sheets)
- Ricotta cheese (15 oz)
- Mozzarella cheese (3 cups, shredded)
- Parmesan cheese (½ cup, grated)
- Marinara or tomato sauce (4 cups)
- Onion (1, diced)
- Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
- Egg (1, for ricotta mixture)
- Olive oil (2 Tbsp)
- Italian herbs (oregano, basil, parsley)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Cook noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil, then add ground beef, seasoning with salt, pepper, and herbs. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, and a pinch of parsley.
- In a greased baking dish, layer sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and mozzarella on top.
- Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake another 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with sautéed vegetables or lentils.
- Letting the lasagna rest before slicing helps it hold its shape.
- Feel free to add more layers or different cheeses based on preference.
