- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
- 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (for ganache)
- Extra mini chocolate chips for decoration
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy and smooth.
- Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until combined.
- Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
- Roll into small balls and set aside in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, and mix until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
- Beat the butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with heavy cream, beating until smooth.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top.
- Sprinkle some cookie dough balls and mini chocolate chips over the frosting.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake.
- Heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer. Pour over the chopped chocolate and let sit for a few minutes. Stir until smooth.
- Pour the ganache over the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Decorate the top of the cake with remaining cookie dough balls and extra mini chocolate chips.

- For a refined finish, use a piping bag to apply the frosting.
